The Groupement de Coopération Sociale et Médico-Sociale (GCSMS) REHACOOR 42 was founded in January 2014 by the associations Recherches & Formations and Actiform, in association with the Saint-Etienne University Hospital.

  • professionals who treat, support and/or help patients with a psychic disability (caregivers, educative, social and public workers, professional insertion advisors, family, friends…)

In the «psychiatry and mental health» segment of the SROS Rhône-Alpes, the ARS has set to give patients with a psychiatric or psychic disability a better access to rehabilitation and psychosocial reinsertion therapies.

Referral centers are the second out of three layers in the regional organization, and are set to give patients with a mental disorder in an acute phase a better access to psychosocial rehabilitation therapies.

Referral centers work in an upstream network (sanitary sector) and a downstream network with support professionals (social, medico-social and economic sectors). Recovering abilities and gaining autonomy only matter if used in «real life», i.e. in close relationships and exchanges with other people, in society, by rehearsing social roles to which every one aspire (having a home, working, being in a relationship, having fun, traveling…).

They require to focus on knowledge, tools, programs, mutual help, people involvement, political orientation…

  • reinforce preserved skills and reduce the disease negative symptoms,

  • improve self-determination and ability to act,

  • reduce stigmatization and self-stigmatization effects,

  • support the patient family and friends, and their immediate surrounding.

In parallel, with an inclusive objective, a network program is set to:

  • organize the diverse professional networks into a downstream support structure,
